Unlike in the world of eyebrows or plus-sized bikinis, sometimes in love, less really is more. Avoid writing long-winded emails about your "feelings". Especially when you're not in a long-term relationship. Odds are, if you have to write them, the person on the receiving end does not give two shits. Or one shit. They give no shits, in fact, and if they stopped calling or told you they're "busy", and you had to resort to a heartfelt letter, it's a lost cause. Please don't debase yourself by confessing your feelings to someone who couldn't care less. Try saying nothing at all but if you must, at least say something that elevates you above them and shows emotional maturity such as, "I appreciate your honesty in the situation" and leave it at that. Then when anyone ever asks about so-and-so you can tell them you were just too good for them. Or that they had herpes.
